What is a Guided Driving Tour?

This is a guided driving tour where you drive one of our vehicles while following a lead vehicle.

All tours follow Japanese traffic laws, with safety as the top priority.

The lead car manages the route and pace, so you can enjoy the drive with confidence.

Driving License Requirements in Japan

To drive a car in Japan, you must have one of the following:

1) International Driving Permit (IDP)

Only an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention is valid in Japan. Approximately 90 countries/regions are eligible, including the United States, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and India.

2) Foreign Driver’s License + Japanese Translation

Licenses issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, and Taiwan may be used in Japan when accompanied by an official Japanese translation issued by JAF or the relevant embassy/consulate.

Countries/Regions Not Eligible to Drive in Japan

The following licenses and/or IDPs are not valid in Japan:

Mainland China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau)
Brazil
Indonesia

There may be other countries that are not parties to the Geneva Convention. Please check the official JAF website for the latest information.

Validity Period

Driving eligibility is valid until the earlier of:

1 year from the date of entry into Japan, or
the expiration date of the license/permit.

Guided Tour Flow

01 | Online Booking

Please select your tour and vehicle, then make an online reservation in advance through our website.
Please select your preferred tour and vehicle option as part of the guided tour, then make an online reservation in advance through our website.

•Reservations are available up to 3 hours before the tour start time.
Credit card payment is required at the time of booking.
Please book under the name of the main participant (driver).
After booking, an automatic confirmation email will be sent to you.

02 | Required Documents

To join the tour, you must bring the following documents:

A valid driver’s license
An International Driving Permit (IDP) (required for eligible countries)
Passport
Credit card

Note: Only driver’s licenses that are valid for use in Japan are accepted.

03 | Check-In

Please arrive at the meeting location at least 15 minutes before the tour start time.

Agreement and signature on the Terms & Conditions
Vehicle exterior inspection
Safety briefing & tour briefing

Our staff will inspect the vehicle with you to confirm there are no existing scratches or damage.

04 | Tour Start

Please follow the lead car and enjoy the tour safely.

Please strictly follow Japanese traffic laws.
Driving outside the designated route is not allowed.
Unsafe driving, aggressive behavior, and risky overtaking are strictly prohibited.

This tour is not a race. It is designed to help you enjoy Japan’s scenery and driving experience safely.
